So Glad I Grew Up Doing This Not This is a series of two-panel exploitables comparing an image of children of their cellphones to absurd, satirical or explicit images.
The earliest known example of the image was posted on October 1st, 2013 on the website Angelisms posted an image of children playing in a river and children on their cellphone. The post is captioned "So glad I grew up doing this not this" with the children in the river being viewed in the affirmative.
Three years later, on April 25th, 2016, Redditor igherfydrant posted the image in the /r/drugmemes subreddit featuring the children in the river replaced by an image of a Ketamine bottle. The post received more than 100 points (99% upvoted).
On April 28th, 2016, the original image was shared by the Instagram user @businessmindset101, who received more than 8,800 likes for the post.
About three weeks later, on May 19th, FunnyJunk user raviance posted the image in which a photograph of a boy smoking a cigarette replaced the image of the children in the river. The post received more than 900 views in two years.
On July 2nd, 2016, Imgur user bronyslayer posted a version in which two children are using cocaine. The post received more than 270 views in two years.
